ZAP! Snowboarding Trix

Review by: Animejoe3

As the name implies this is a snowboarding game from Pony Canyon for the import Sega Saturn. The game has somewhat of a 'Hip-Hop' twist to it in which the graphics and Music represent something out of the Rap Music & hip-Hop culture, whether that's good or bad depends on the individual gamer but overall I'd have to say this is one of the top 10 worst games I have ever played !! I don't know what's worst- This Game or the Controls of Hang-On GP '95..There are a small amount of good things about this game but not many..

1.GRAPHICS= The Graphics in this game are polygon based and some of it is decent but overall they suck in n a few ways. For starters it appears as if the game graphics contain very little colors and the polygons aren't as clean looking as other Saturn games. There's also a little bit of Pop-up in a few areas but due to the clever level design you won't be seeing much of it.. The graphics are forward scrolling and have a 3-D feel to them similar to the Virtua Fighter 2 Arcade game. There is a few scaling effects here and there but nothing really to make a big deal about....... Graphics: 5/10

2. MUSIC/SOUND EFX= The Music and Sound Effects in this game are definitely of the hip-hop genre and range from pretty decent tracks to Lousy ones. The Sound effects contain many sounds reminiscent of what you'd here from a DJ like record scratches & bass hits. The announcer's voice during the game is too mundane and boring to keep you awake and the music could use a lot of improving..

The music is RedBook audio so you can easily pop it into your CD player and listen to the tracks on their own.. Music: 4/10

3. CONTROLS= The Controls, depending on your character of choice are pretty good. Choosing the character with the less speed but most maneuverability will yield wonderful results. Performing the air tricks are easy and the controls are quite responsive. Control: 8/10

4. GAMEPLAY= I'll admit that the first few times I played the game I hated it and thought it was a waste of money even though I paid only $24 for a brand new version. But after playing it a little more the following days and learning how to perform the air tricks this game became more enjoyable even though I still think it's one of the top ten worst games I've played this year..You only get 3 courses to choose from to race and 1 practice course, there are only 3 characters to choose from and the courses are at a pretty decent length. Unfortunately you race against only 1 computer opponent and the game is only 1-player as well so the dreams of racing against a friend will remain just that- A Dream Gameplay: 5/10

REPLAY VALUE= the replay value of this game is almost non-existent once you go through all 3 of the courses in the game and perform all of the easy stunts..Given more options, more computer opponents to race against, more on-screen colors, and an announcer that sounds alive this game could have been better, Much much better.. Replay Value: 3/10

OVERAL= Save your money, this game isn't worth half price let alone Full price.. I only paid $24 for my brand new copy and I still think I overpaid!! $10-$15 in my opinion is it's total worth and if you're an import buyer just looking to supplement your gaming collection then this might not be such a bad buy for you if you can get it cheap,Real cheap. But if you're looking for a new game to have a blast with, Look elsewhere...!! Overall: 4.5/10
