Warriors of Fate II (Import)Review by: Jim C Tran Warriors of Fate 2 is a classic sideway brawler (aka Double Dragon and Golden Axe genre). Players choose from 5 characters, each of which have his own array of special moves. The game is 2 players and includes the normal assortment of "pick-up" weapons for this genre. There are (i think) around 10 levels. Anyway, the game is actually Warriors of Fate 1 (I guess the call it 2 because it is the console version). The game is roughly based on romance of the 3 kingdoms. GRAPHICS 6/10 If you have seen WOF in the arcades, this should be an exact conversion-graphics wise. The graphics for this game are basically large 16 bit sprites. There is no scalling or any 32 bit special effects. However I do think they are very big for this type of game. Even though they look 16 bit, there are too many sprites animating for a 16 bit machine to handle. The graphics are more detailed the Treasures Guardian Heores, but less is done with them. The animations are really choppy. Obviously there isn't pixalization. If you have played any of the capcom games of this genre, you should have a picture of how the graphics look like. SOUND 4/10 Ok, the sounds ok. Actually borderlining sorry. If you like grunts that don't make any sense, then you are mental. The characters make a stupid sounds like ooooiiiiahhhhh. Not exactly you THX sound effects either. I guess I have to say the sound effects here are arcade perfect also. Music 4/10 Can you say 16 bit? Yes, it's that nintendo sounding synthesizer garbage. Once again, just like the arcade. Load Time 8/10 The load time is very fast EXCEPT when you change characters on a continue. What the hell? When you are playing 2-player, and on person dies and changes characters, the other person has to wait like 1 or 2 secs. It's not all that bad, just kinda annoying. At least they don't give you a loading screen. Besides that, the load time is very fast. Gameplay 7/10 Okay, okay! This is where the game SHINES. You got 2 players smashing around 10 guys on the screen. What's more fun then that? The special moves in this game are really a plus. When you do a special move, and you kill the person, he breaks in half. Yup yup yup blood everywhere. I mean this games is cooool. Okay, not as cool as Guardian Heroes, but better then 3 Dirty Dwarves. I beat this game like 20 times and I still play it. You go up against fat sumo wrestlers, little ninja dudes, crazy Chun Li's, and other kinds of wierd fighters. What I really like about this game, is getting on a horse and hacking the bosses in halve. I don't know why. The only complaint I have about this game is the original arcade was 3 players. Overall 7/10 Hey, gameplay is there. Graphics and stuff aren't anything to write home about, but they are solid. If I were to buy a game of this genre, I'd buy Guardian Heroes, and then this game. 3 Dirty Dwarves isn't in the same league. It should be coming out in the us early '97. The engine is very solid, and it'll keep you entertain long enough before the next Sega hit comes out. Enough of this review, I have to play WOF. OOOOIIIIIIEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! If you have any questions about this game, email me.
