In my own defense

I personally don't want to turn this constructive editorial section into a slug feast between two system advocates. However, the recent response from Joe Thomas prompted me to send in my response to his attack on my credibility.

Joe Thomas claims that he is not against any system and plays games for the fun of it. Yet in his original editorial "Just Have fun!" dated (4/11/97) Joe wrote and I quote: "I have been a Sega-Man ever since the Master System" and further quotes like "Saturn is far from over" plus the general pro-sega tone of the editorial would have led anyone to believe he is a Sega advocate. Further more, he contradicted himself in his most recent editorial where he openly attacked my credibility. Joe starts his editorial by claiming he is unbiased and then ended his editorial with a list of Saturn games and the phrase "enjoy my system of choice" which obviously refers to Sega Saturn. In my editorial "A friend from Behind enemy lines" I called him misinformed and ignorant because that is exactly what he is and illustrated clearly by his refusal to admit he is infact pro-sega and not the unbiased gamer he claims to be. I am not bitter about it but I believe Joe should be more honest when it comes to his gaming preferences.

Why am I a friend from behind Enemy lines? Because I have no problem with open discussions between owners of competing systems. That is why I'm here, because I want to see the industry from a Sega point of view and in the process give Sega fans a chance to see the industry from the Nintendo side. In my editorial "A friend from Behind enemy lines" my open skepticism of the Saturn upgrade was proved to be correct when just recently, Sega canned the upgrade. This kind of views would be hard to come by when you have only Sega fans running around hoping that they would get this upgrade so their beloved system would get a new lease on life.
