Response: 64X and Saturn 2, what should Sega do with them?

Cristofer L. Cottrell

A hearty "Amen" to Mr. Cossack's reply. It seems that the Saturn is just starting to hit on all cylinders, and to introduce a new piece of hardware anytime before Christmas of '98 would not only be a bad decision, it would be fatal. In the meantime, Sega should concentrate efforts on making cartridge/CD games. I'm sure anyone who has stuck with Sega this long would, without a doubt, finally jump ship if we had to shell out another $XXX for the latest Sega anything. In speculation, I think Sega should have never released the Saturn in the first place. Instead, they should have stuck with Sega 32X-CD until introducing a 64-bitter. At the very least, they should have held out on Saturn until some decent games were available. And why on Earth didn't they concentrate on games like Sonic and Phantasy Star for the first generation of software? I love my Saturn, but Sega of American just seems to constantly make bad business decisions. Hopefully the Christmas season sparked enough interest in Saturn to assure Sega they DO NOT need a 64-bit machine anytime soon. If it didn't, this is definitely the last Sega brand hardware I'll ever buy (no matter how good a 64-bit VF3 is)!
